Brief
Envisioning an a time-keeping device. After brainstorming, the idea that struck a chord with us was 'Do we remain mindful and aware of how much we grow and evolve over the months?' As a result, we sought to understand students' notion of time in relation to their learnings

Scoping
Aim: To evaluate how students track their progress.
We approached student from various creative and non-creative backgrounds and tried to understand their perception of growth and progress.

Deriving observations from various interviews conducted
Observations:
Use of digital platforms to keep a track of their progress
Need for external motivators- friends, family, competition
Paint Points:
Consistency in maintaining physical/ digital records
Expecting immediate results otherwise giving up
Retrospection leading to overthinking
Common behaviours:
Self awareness, believe in and practce self-reflection
Trying to maintain a work-life balance
Comfortable sharing and talking about their progress on social media and otherwise
Prefer to go with flow for personal progress
Hypothesis
A digital service that will help make students consistent and aware learners because it will help breakdown complex learnings and promote appreciation of small achievements

Feedback
Exciting Features:
"Not as intimidating as notion and approachable"
The aspect of friends' characters is very cute and wholesome
Encourages to reach out for help when required and doing it together
The liberty to choose to whom all the 'help' message is going
"Recording SOS was good since I could look back into it and analyse where I needed help"
Drawbacks:
Retrospection icon is misleading- interpreted as refresh
Checkpoint didnt have the affordance of a button
"If I wasn't able to complete all the tasks for the day and my friend was able to, it might lead to comparison"
'SOS' - the name and colour red has negative connotations
The 'record' menu functionality was confusing

(Draft 2 iterations)

simple camera icon for recording

'Retrospection' on the navigation bar
Swiping gesture to mark a task as 'completed'
'sos' changed to 'help'
Red changed to Orange-indicating pending work

Takeaways
Importance of Scoping and user testing
Detaching from the work and being open-minded about the feedback
Maintaining balance between levraging existing habits and introducing new ones
